PUNE: For Aditi and Apporva Sancheti, ‘organic farming’ is not only a voluntarily-chosen career, but also a lifestyle. The two sisters, though born and brought up in the metropolis, are spending their time at their two-acre farmland in Sanaswadi village on Sinhgad Road and practicing organic farming.
“It's a passion for us. We cultivate all the vegetables needed for our family. Our entire family has adopted this lifestyle,” said Aditi.
The duo shared their experiences about their off-beat career on the 'International Women's Day' at an event organised by Pune Union of Working Journalists on Thursday.
Both of them completed their matriculation from Revachand Bhojwani Academy, without any private classes. A teacher at Garware Bal Bhawan, their mother Kalpana nourished their childhood in a very creative way.
Motivated by contribution of environmentalist like Dilip Kulkarni, they decided to devote their full time to organic farming. For the last three years they are living in a small farmhouse made of mud, which they built themselves. “We have learned so many things in the farm. Farming today is market-oriented and is leading all the farmers to look at profit only. The farmers should be convinced that allied activities can support them financially,” they said.
